Executive Director - Steve Vaughan
Steve Vaughan - Executive Director (part time) 
Steve is a director of InsideOutWorks, a consultancy specialising in the development of business sustainability. He was a member of the group which set up the New Zealand Society for Risk Management and has been its deputy chair, newsletter editor, and convenor for one of the Society's conferences.
He has doctorate in chemical engineering and his career includes extensive experience in research and development, the management of environmental issues (from local to multinational inter-government negotiations) and the development of and application of risk management techniques including future risks.
He has managed of a number of large governmental projects requiring complex risk judgements and characterised by both limited information and widely differing risk perceptions. These include the reform of the management of hazardous substances and new organisms and the government's response to Royal Commission on Genetic Modification.
Steve has also represented New Zealand at international fora including OECD technical committees, as a board member for the Global Environment Facility, and at the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development.
He maintains a strong interest in the development and application of risk management techniques, recently including areas as diverse as the siting of explosives facilities, the development of irrigation schemes, dealing with flooding, and the investigation of medical incidents.
Steve is an experienced facilitator which particular experience in resolving and clarifying complex technical issues.

Geraint Bermingham - Chair

Geraint has a passion for managing risk in high-risk environments and in particular the practical application of theory. Specific risk management roles have included operational risk, business continuity and internal audit roles with Air New Zealand, membership of the risk management committee of Europe’s largest industrial site, nuclear power engineer, and submariner.
As a director of Navigatus Risk Consulting, Geraint has advised a wide range of organizations on risk methodologies and assessment. Projects have included risk management framework and process design for large private and public companies, risk assessments for complex environmental decision making, project risk management for roads and rail and risk analysis for analysis of specialist flight operations, regulatory intervention, and marine oil spill environmental risk. His risk management work has extended across infrastructure, bioresearch, essential infrastructure, oil production, aviation operations and regulation, medical health delivery and rail transport sectors.
Geraint is a long-standing member of the Joint Australian/New Zealand committee on risk management and was one of the two New Zealand representatives on the international committee that has just published ISO13000. He has recently been elected to the Chair of the New Zealand Society for Risk Management.

Ross Wells - Secretary
Ross is a late-comer to risk management, after a career in social work as a practitioner and manager. He then worked for the Audit Commission in the UK, before returning to New Zealand in 2003.
Currently Ross is the Business Improvement and Risk Manager at the Department of Labour, where he has developed and implemented risk management, assurance and business continuity systems. He has played a lading role in the establishment of the Public Sector Risk Management Forum in Wellington.
Ross has a Masters degree from Canterbury, a postgraduate Diploma in Social Work from Victoria, and an MBA from the UK.
Adrian Sparrow

Adrian has a wide range of experience related to the management of risks across a variety of industries. This has been derived from line management, consulting, audit, theoretical analysis, and execution of strategy. Prior to starting EIQ, his compliance, risk and review company, Adrian was Director of Fair Trading at the Commerce Commission. He has a Masters degree from Massey and an MBA from Cranfield.

Rebecca Robinson

Rebecca is currently employed as a Risk Advisor at Contact Energy. Rebecca has responsibility for working with a number of business units and projects to advise on risk management and business continuity process and practice. Previously Rebecca has worked for New Zealand Trade and Enterprise as a risk and report analyst and the Ministry of Health as a Risk Analyst. Rebecca's work at Contact is the first time she has been able to practice Risk Management at a private company and is very interested in how Risk Management is able to make improvements to operations in both the Government and Private sectors.
Rebecca has had a keen interest in compliance, risk, fraud and business continuity for the last 10 years and is keen to continue growing her knowledge and sharing ideas on best practice in these areas. Rebecca regularly attends the Risk Networking breakfast meetings in Wellington and is looking forward to being a representative for members on the Committee for the next two years.

Anne Walker
Anne has held the position of Risk Manager at Massey University since 2002. Anne has responsibility for implementing and maintaining an enterprise-wide risk management system across the University, as well as managing compliance functions, internal audit, and risk assessment and reporting. Anne advises senior management and University Council, and provides ongoing risk management training and support for management.
As a senior manager in the New Zealand tertiary sector since 1993, Anne has specialised in strategic risk management and presented at forums through New Zealand and overseas, including at the International Meeting of University Administrators (IMUA) in Beijing in August 2004. Anne is a fellow of ATEM (Association for Tertiary Education Management). Anne is a trustee and board member of charitable and community service trusts. Anne is an alumnus of Massey University.

Steve Markham
Steve Markham has significant experience in environmental management and is a founding member of the Society. He is a Policy Manager for a local authority with varied environmental management challenges. Steve has credentials in resource management and natural sciences and has worked in strategic policy decision-making across community and environment issues that demand integrated risk management under routine uncertainty and contest.
Nigel Toms
Nigel is the Corporate Risk Manager for Watercare Services Limited, New Zealand’s largest water and wastewater service provider.
He has more than 20 years operational and strategic level experience, including the design, development and implementation of integrated Business and Project Risk Management and Assurance systems. This includes the construction of risk management plans, risk registers, mitigation and business continuity plans to ensure that business and project objectives are achieved within planned cost and schedule constraints. His experience includes detailed understanding of the requirements to support and maintain 24/7 operations in both the defence and utility environments, maintenance of critical long life assets and providing direct support to major capital construction projects.
As the leader of the Sharing Best Practice sub-committee, Nigel’s role includes investigating risk management qualifications currently available in the international market to identify those which are recognised by the business community and will provide the greatest levels of benefit to current practitioners and serve to nurture the next generation of professionally qualified risk management leaders.
Nigel holds the following qualifications and memberships: Masters in Corporate Governance (MSc), Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA) and a member of the UK Institute of Risk Management (MIRM) having successfully completed the Diploma in Risk Management.

Brian Potter

Brian originally trained in telecommunications engineering with the NZ Post Office and since 1992 has specialised in Risk Management related areas of Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, Y2K preparations, Civil Defence and Risk Management itself. Today his Risk Management role is located in the Technology and Shared services part of Telecom and focuses on providing advice on Operational Risk Management. Brian also carries out specialist risk assessments which he describes as the science of looking into dark corners.
